cycling coaching: All about Steve Hall
I
have been riding and racing bikes for over 25 years and coaching
cyclists for the past six years. After spending seven years
in the Royal Engineers (there's nothing like the army for
instilling a sense of discipline and determination in your
training!!), I worked in Essex as a design engineer and cycled for
local club Essex Roads. After many cycling holidays and
trips to France, I decided to give up the 9-5 and set up a holiday
business in the French Pyrenees with my wife, Sarah.
Within a few months our son, Aidan, was born followed a couple of
years later by Amélie (see picture, left). Throughout the summer,
my time is spent showing guests around the most beautiful
mountains that this area has to offer. The main benefit of
spending so much time in the mountains is that I'm perfectly
placed to advise on climbing and descending. I have also ridden
most of the sportives that happen in this area as well as taking
part in the last three Etape du Tours, in which I finished 71st
last year. I currently race in France for a local team UV
Lourdes, and win the occasional event! As a qualified Club Coach,
I am currently undertaking my Level Three British Cycling badge -
the highest coaching qualification available.
